hey, i quit my job!
well, "quit" is a harsh word. better to say that as of today i'm no longer employed by adaptive path, though i continue to own a big chunk of it and still sit on the board. but, yeah, almost 6 years in and i'm moving on (4.5 years longer than i lasted anywhere else, for the record.)
strange thing, to leave your own company. there's a lot i could say about it, but it boils down to this: it's true what they say in silicon valley, that there are people who start companies and people who run them, and those tend to be two very different kinds of people. i am definitely in the former category. ap's doing incredibly well, but it's getting a little too big for me, and i want to get back to an environment that's smaller, leaner, and, erhm, a little more risk-positive.
it's an amicable separation, i still love everybody there, and i'm fully expecting them to support me in whatever i do next. i have no idea what that will be quite yet, but something will turn up, and in the meantime i'm open to suggestions. and i have a lot more free time right now, so if you want to go grab a beer in the middle of the afternoon, let me know! i'm totally up for it.
